EVENTS

May

5-7

First "Annual" District Desert Rendezvous at Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Division IX (92) host. The first Inland District River Cruise on the Colorado River. For the five bucks - steak fry and all the trimmings Saturday evening, plus all the coffee, donuts, aspirin and tender sympathy needed on Sunday morning. The Desert Sailors hosted over 100 people, 25 vessels, and 1 aircraft. One of the most delightful and well-organized outings we've ever had. The lake was a little choppy, but only enough to add zest to the cruise. A real old-fashioned songfest around a real bonfire topped off the evening perfectly.

SCRAPBOOK

DEAN ROWE, DCP IX

Preparedness requires an all-out effort in membership training. Each monthly Division IX meeting is followed by either a workshop, seminar or both. The participants take the information gained from the training program back to their flotilla members that were unable to attend the Division meeting.

We haven’t forgotten the young people in Division IX either ! Through the sponsorship of the Academy Introduction Mission by the Division, the sponsorship of a Sea Scout Ship by Flotilla 92, and the active participation of many of our Auxiliarists of Division IX in scouting, we are proud to foster in the young people of our area a love of the sea and a desire to be of assistance to their fellow man afloat. We also believe that this effort will pay off in the future with many of these young men and women joining the ranks of the Auxiliary.
